sad news:baltimore orioies hangout star player decided not to play again due to…

Was curious whether anyone from Ohio would move here. When it was all about baseball, that was a really great website. Very knowledgeable and astute guys. Regrettably, the proprietor couldn’t control his own politics. I don’t know how you can be against the Orioles (and other teams in the league) allowing all of their players to observe a day of mourning. Extremely shady move to abruptly close the website.

“I disagree with the Orioles decision and feel they should not mix politics with sports,” would have been a perfectly acceptable reaction. I’ll keep blogging about the team’s on-field success and the general manager’s efforts to rebuild the organization because I don’t have anything more to say about it.

For twenty years, I have been viewing the site, but not posting. It was an excellent resource, particularly during the trade deadline. Even while some of us do agree with it, it’s unfortunate that some people can’t just concentrate on the game and disregard anything else that they disagree with that’s outside of it.

The site owner has political views that lean one way, so when players from a variety of sports decided not to play this week in order to express support or solidarity for a certain cause, it irritated him and he packed up his toys and left.
