News New: Leeds United breakthrough expected and landscape

Leeds’ 1-0 vict ory against Bristol City on Friday night bolstered their Championship promotion push. However, focus now shifts to the FA Cup, with Tuesday night’s fourth round replay at Plymouth Argyle being broadcast live on BBC One (kick-off at 7.45pm).

In the first-round match in the fourth round last weekend at Elland Road, Plymouth held Leeds to a 1-1 draw, but the bookies are confident that Farke’s Whites will advance to the last 16 within 90 minutes at Home Park.

Every bookmaker has Leeds at odds of no more than 4-6 and as low as 4-7, while Ian Foster’s can be backed at 19-5, which is just shy of 4-1. The draw, which would result in extra time, is available at 7-2, but Leeds are 1-3 to advance while Plymouth is 9-4 and has the same odds of winning on penalties as Leeds.

However, the bookmakers believe the match won’t last more than ninety minutes and predict Leeds to win. If Leeds wins, there will now be an additional match in the FA Cup fifth round in addition to the 16 games remaining in the team’s quest for promotion.

The victor of the Home Park repeat on Tuesday night will have to travel to either Chelsea or Aston Villa, who square off in a fourth-round replay on Wednesday at Villa Park. In a very close race, Villa is the slight favorite to advance at 3–4, with Chelsea at 11–10.
