Leeds United:has fired a 29-year-old player with…

With his game-winning goal in our 1-0 victory over Bristol City on Friday night, Willy Gnonto returned to his scoring ways and was named Boost Player of the Match.

Even though there was only 2% separating Gnonto and Archie Gray when all votes were counted, Leeds United supporters ultimately agreed with the Sky Sports pundits and gave the Italian international their own Player of the Match award.

Gnonto played 83 minutes of the win at Ashton Gate, scoring in the 47th minute, after Junior Firpo launched a ball from Leeds’ half, finding the 20 year old, who drove into the box and unleashed a wonderful shot.

Along with his goal, Gnonto completed 96% of his 26 passes, as he linked up well with Crysencio Summerville and Georginio to constantly put Bristol City under pressure throughout.

The Italian, who has featured 25 times for the Whites this season, also made 42 touches during his time on the pitch, winning 7 duels and scoring with his one shot on target.

Voting was close for this weekend’s Player of the Match, as Gnonto (34%) faced stiff competition from Archie Gray (32%), who was equally as impressive in the win over Bristol City. Beyond the two mentioned, Joe Rodon was third in the voting with 11%, followed by Ilia Gruev in fourth with 7%.
