Leicester wins the fight for promotion to the Premier League

With a 3-1 victory over Swansea, Harry Souttar’s Leicester City went up to the top of the English Championship by 10 points.

After Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who was in high demand, scored the score early on, Stephy Mavididi made it 2-0 after 20 minutes by scoring from the penalty spot after Patson Daka was fouled.

Yunus Agkun tucked home the game’s third goal after Dewsbury-Hall slid the ball through for the Foxes, who had dropped their opening two league games.

Brighton, a Premier League team interested in acquiring Dewsbury-Hall in January, has been given a Stg 30 million ($57.8 million) price tag by Leicester.

Socceroo Souttar has had difficulty getting playing time with Leicester while he is in Qatar getting ready for Australia’s Asian Cup quarterfinal matchup with South Korea.

Deep into stoppage time, Joe Allen, a former Liverpool player, gave Swansea a consolation goal as Leicester pulled 10 points clear of Ipswich Town at the top of the table.

Coventry drew 2-2 with Bristol City, and Ellis Simms scored four minutes from time to save a point for the home team.

Tatsuhiro Sakamoto gave the Sky Blues the lead shortly before the half-hour mark with a shot into the bottom corner, but Rob Dickie’s header at the back post tied the score going into the half.

With seven minutes remaining, Nahki Wells gave Bristol City the lead, but Simms capitalised on a rebound to win a share of the spoils.
