Leeds boost as Rangers close in on loan deal for £10m man move could be completed next …

Leeds are in the market for a left-sided defender with Sam Byram and Junior Firpo regularly picking up injuries and spending a long time in the treatment room this season. That, before two more departures.

Indeed, Djed Spence and Luke Ayling have left Leeds to join Genoa and Middlesbrough, with Ayling set to end his Leeds spell in the summer. Leeds need a left-sided defender to join the club at some point.

One target, is Rangers defender Borna Barisic. The Croatian star is out of contract at the end of the season and Leeds are keen to lure him down south. He has starred for the Gers over the last five years.

It was claimed recently that Rangers had identified Jurasek – as well as Dinamo Zagreb’s Marko Bulat – as replacements for Barisic. They are keen to keep Barisic at Ibrox, and asked him to sign a new deal.

But now, it seems as if Rangers are set to complete the deal of £10m Benfica signing Jurasek. That is according to TeamTalk today, who say a deal could be done as early as the beginning of next week.

It means that Rangers are closing in on a left-back signing of their own and probably, a replacement for Barisic with the Croat of interest not only to Leeds – but clubs from all over Europe’s big countries.

With Jurasek set to move to Glasgow, it appears that Leeds now have the perfect opportunity to sign Barisic. While it might not be a long-term signing, it would be a very good short-term addition at Leeds.
