The Florida State football program and head coach Mike Norvell continue to work the transfer portal, snagging another player for next fall. Per Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, the Seminoles have acquired the services of former Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker Shawn Murphy via the transfer portal.

Murphy entered the transfer Portal on Sunday, resulting in another departure with longtime head coach Nick Saban retiring earlier in the week. Saban led the Crimson Tide to six titles. Alabama has also lost leading wideout Isaiah Bond, offensive lineman Terrence Ferguson, corner Dezz Ricks, and two five-star receivers in the wake of Saban’s retirement.

The Crimson Tide signed Murphy, a four-star prospect per 247Sports, in 2022. Murphy ranked as the 12th linebacker in the country and one of the best players from Virginia. The Unity Reed High School prospect tallied just two tackles and a pass defense during his inaugural season with Alabama. He appeared in five games. Murphy contributed on special teams while earning defensive reps. He collected three tackles in 13 games. He played special teams against the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship and the Michigan Wolverines in the Rose Bowl.
