GREAT DEAL: Leeds head coach has finally won the by signing Timo werner ….

Renan Lodi is off to Saudi Arabia and he needs replacing. Scottish star Doig has impressed over in Italy as the latest example of a Scotsman impressing in Serie A – after Lewis Ferguson and Aaron Hickey.

Reports initially said that Leeds, Rangers, Torino and Monza had shown interest in the £5.5m-rated left-back. Then, Marseille stole a march – bidding £4.3m. Hibernian are set to receive a 27.5% sell-on clause.

Arsenal have also been tracking Doig, as he continues to impress – having a hand in six goals during 22 goals for Verona last term. The Scottish Sun say Marseille had agreed personal terms with the Scot.

But, with a move expected, Marseille have now pulled out of a move. Gattuso’s side have decided to go after new targets, with Verona delaying on rubber-stamping a move for Doig. His future is up in the air.

It may give Leeds another crack at a player they though might have become unavailable this month. If Leeds are interested, then they will have to move quickly with other clubs likely to renew their interest.

Leeds are in the market for a left-back after the club allowed Djed Spence and Luke Ayling to go, while Sam Byram and Junior Firpo are renowned for their injury issues. One to keep an eye on this month.
