‘Brilliant’ 28-year-old an unused substitute on Friday after reports Leeds United want to sign him
However, much to everyone’s surprise, Leeds decided to end Spence’s time at Elland Road early on Thursday night which could now put them back on the lookout for another.
One name that has been mentioned over the last couple of days is Burnley’s Connor Roberts, who has found himself on the periphery at Turf Moor since a 3-0 defeat at Brentford in October.
The 28-year-old has been used from the bench in three of the last five Premier League matches, but after reports surfaced that Leeds want to sign him, he was an unused substitute again last night.
Leeds target Roberts an unused sub for Burnley
Roberts could be a decent addition for Leeds as he boasts an abundance of experience at this level. He scored four goals in 43 appearances for Burnley as they romped to the Championship title last season.
Should he make the switch to Leeds, Roberts would become the fourth Wales international in the squad alongside Dan James, Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon.
Roberts also played alongside both James and Rodon at Swansea, and happened to form a great relationship on the pitch with the latter for both club and country.
While at Swansea, their former manager Steve Cooper – someone Leeds targeted in the summer before appointing Farke – hailed him as ‘brilliant’ back in 2021.
There is no doubt that Leeds are in huge need of a right-back before the end of the window and Roberts would also provide a bit of extra experience to what is a young squad at Elland Road.
