The Seattle Seahawks were on the outside looking in over the past several weeks, but enough results broke their way to return to a wild card spot with just two games to go. Incredibly, there is a chance the Seahawks can lock up a playoff berth with a week to spare, but it’ll have to involve an outcome we haven’t seen at all this season.

Seattle has to do its part by beating the Pittsburgh Steelers at home. Afterward, Seahawks players, coaches, and fans alike will all be pulling for a tie between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football.

This is the only way the Seahawks are guaranteed a postseason spot before Week 18. The Packers and Vikings are both 7-8 and have tiebreakers on the Seahawks. If Seattle is 9-7, Minnesota and Green Bay being 7-8-1 would give the Seahawks an unassailable lead.

Seattle cannot be mathematically eliminated with a tie or loss this weekend, so either the Seahawks will clinch a playoff spot through this highly unlikely outcome, or it’ll come down to the final week of the regular season.
