Michigan football still only Power-5 team without transfer portal departure
Michigan football is looking to make some additions from the transfer portal, but the Wolverines are the only Power-5 program not to lose any at this point.
The transfer portal has had a drastic change on college football. It hasn’t been all bad though and this year’s Michigan football team was able to take advantage of the portal in a big way.
It’s something the Wolverines are hoping to do again. Upton Stout, a defensive back from Western Kentucky is already expected to visit this weekend.
Michigan football has also been connected to Dante Moore, a former five-star quarterback from Detroit. Walter Nolen is another name that’s been connected to the Wolverines.
It remains to be seen if Michigan can land any of those players, but one positive for the Wolverines so far is they are the only power-5 program without losing a player to the transfer portal yet.
College Football Programs with the MOST & LEAST players in the Transfer Portal
I’m sure there wil be some departures. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t, but Ohio State has already had 15 players enter the transfer portal including starting quarterback Kyle McCord.
Maybe it’s because Ohio State is looking to upgrade. But it’s hard to know how that will play out. It seems unlikely Michigan will get anywhere close to that number.
The transfer portal is open for 30 days right now. It’s also open for 15 days in the spring. Alabama and Texas have had multiple players enter the transfer portal. Washington has only had one.
Some other programs are in single digits which is impressive in this era. It’s a reflection of the culture of Michigan football and hopefully, the departures remain limited, although some of that is going to depend on Jim Harbaugh.
