Rangers v Celtic: Injury updates emerge on

Brendan Rodgers has issued updates on Celtic trio Liel Abada, Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda ahead of the Rangers clash later this month.

The Hoops boss states that Abada and Hatate are both in contention to return to full fitness for the Old Firm derby.

Hatate, on the other hand, is going to be out until the end of the winter break and will be jetting into Scotland soon, per Football Scotland.

Hatate’s prolonged absence from Celtic’s lineup as he continues his rehabilitation in Japan and is expected to return after the winter break in January, could inadvertently benefit Rangers.

The Japanese, a 26-year-old playmaker, has been a notable absence from Celtic’s midfield since October.

His creative prowess and ability to influence the game from the middle of the park make him a significant asset for Rodgers’ side.

For Rangers, Hatate’s absence translates to facing a Celtic midfield that may lack his influential presence.

The Japanese playmaker’s vision, passing ability, and knack for contributing both defensively and offensively are attributes that could trouble opposing teams, including Rangers.

With Hatate out of action, Rangers might face a Celtic midfield that is less dynamic and potentially more predictable, allowing them to exploit any perceived weaknesses.

Gers are playing catch up to Celtic in the league and cannot afford to not win this one and secure the three points.
