Disappointing News For New York Yankees The……

The New York Mets are showing interest in this star free agent slugger.

The New York Mets are looking to upgrade their lineup and outfield defense, and they could be killing two birds with one stone if they were to make this acquisition.

According to USA TODAY, the Mets are showing interest in star Japanese free agent outfielder Jung Hoo Lee.

Lee is a center fielder and is expected to be posted by the KBO’s Kiwoom Heroes soon.

Lee, 25, is projected to receive a five-year, $50 million deal in free agency, and has drawn interest in the Mets, New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres and a number of other teams.

Lee played seven years in the KBO, winning the Gold Glove Award five times and capturing the 2022 MVP Award, slashing .349/.421/.575 (.996 OPS) with 23 home runs, 113 RBIs, 36 doubles, to go along with 10 triples in 142 games.

In 86 games in 2023, Lee hit .318/.406/.455 (.860 OPS) with six home runs, 45 RBIs before he underwent season-ending ankle surgery. However, he is expected to be ready by spring training.

The window to sign players from the KBO is 30 days, while Yoshinobu Yamamoto will get 45 days to sign since he is coming from the NPB.

Lee would give the Mets options defensively in the outfield. He can either play center field, bumping Brandon Nimmo to left field, or Nimmo could stay in center and Lee could play left.
