Green Bay Packers: Eric Stokes Begins Practicing Again

The Green Bay Packers had practice on Monday and one of the players that made an appearance was cornerback Eric Stokes. The only game reps he has seen this season were on special teams before suffering a hamstring injury and being placed on injured reserve. Stokes only played against the Denver Broncos on October 22.

With Stokes back at practice, they have 21 days to activate him off of injured reserve and return to the 53-man roster, and will see what happens between now and then. In 2022, he dealt with a season-ending injury.

Eric Stokes is 24 years old and Green Bay needs to see him in game action. At 24 years old throughout his NFL career, he has 81 total tackles and one interception. Stokes was the 29th overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft (first-round selection) out of the University of Georgia. He has not been able to stay on the field throughout his NFL career so far and hopefully, he can see some game action toward the end of the season.

Kelsean Nixon and Corey Ballentine have been the starting cornerbacks for the Green Bay Packers over the last couple of weeks. Rookie Carrington Valentine has also played well over the last few weeks in the secondary for Green Bay and he has been a relative surprise for them this season.

Maybe Stokes can get some starter reps as well at cornerback for Green Bay if he is taken off injured reserve at some point and it would be a shame if it didn’t happen. If Stokes has a full week of practice, then it is possible he could return against the Kansas City Chiefs. If not, maybe they would wait until Monday, December 11 against the New York Giants (4-8) for Stokes to return to game action potentially.
