Fans Get An Update On Aaron Jones’ Injury Status

Aaron Jones #33 of the Green Bay Packers is helped off the field after being injured in the second quarter against the Los Angeles Chargers at Lambeau Field on November 19, 2023 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

This has been a miserable season for the Green Bay Packers — the type their devoted fans haven’t had to deal with for decades.

The team is currently 4-6, and it is starting to seem that new starting quarterback Jordan Love will not be the long-term answer at that position.

Things have now gone from bad to worse for the Packers, as Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday that running back Aaron Jones has a sprained MCL and is unlikely to play on Thursday when they visit the Detroit Lions in the Lions’ annual Thanksgiving game.

Packers’ RB Aaron Jones has an MCL sprain, will be considered week to week, but is unlikely to play Thursday, per source.

Jones has teamed with AJ Dillon to give Green Bay a strong duo in the backfield over the last few years.

He has gone over 1,000 rushing yards three times in his previous six seasons, and he led the NFL with 16 rushing touchdowns in 2019 while being named to the Pro Bowl the following year.

When Aaron Rodgers was still the man under center for Green Bay and let Jones and Dillon do their thing on the ground, the team tended to prosper.

It reached the NFC Championship Game in both the 2019 and 2020 seasons, but that now seems like a long time ago, as it will be years before it will be able to return to that plateau.

This isn’t the first injury Jones has had to deal with in 2023 — early in the season, he suffered a hamstring ailment that forced him to miss multiple games.

In seven games this year, he has 245 yards and two touchdowns on the ground plus 169 yards and one touchdown in the air.
