BREAKING: GREEN BAY COACH  HAS SUSPENDED  TWO  KEY PROLIFIC STAR AHEAD OF SUNDAY CLASH

With the Packers wearing their 1950’s inspired throwbacks on Sunday, let’s discuss how a franchise as prestigious as the Packers should approach the new era of football uniforms.

2023 has been a landmark year for the NFL from an aesthetic perspective. After the ridiculous one-helmet rule was rightfully abolished, the league’s creative elites have gone to town, introducing some of the nicest uniforms to grace the sport in decades.

From the Buccaneers’ Creamsicles to the Eagles’ Kelly Greens. From the Tennessee Oilers to those iconic royal blue Seahawks throwbacks, we’ve been blessed with some beautiful recreations — a dose of nostalgia for older fans, and a rediscovered taste of originality for the younger demographic.

In a more here-and-now approach, the Bengals debuted their ‘White Bengal’ look last season before cleaning up some minor bugs in the offseason to make for a spectacular uniform debutant this year.

The best throwbacks are those that elicit memories for the current fans. For the Packers, their best choice is probably the 1980’s jersey featuring logos on the sleeves and five sleeve stripes compared to the current three.

It’s not starkly different to the current uniform, so it loses points in that regard, but it’s still a fun twist and one that I’m sure would be appreciated by those who grew up watching through the ’ Kellyand James Lofton years.

Other uniform concepts we’ve seen floated out include a blackout look (a concept we see for every team) which probably doesn’t suit a franchise like the Packers as much as some others — the Ravens and Falcons for example.

How about all yellow? Well, it’s not the most desirable color to plaster all over my TV screen. There’s a reason the stylish Chargers keep it strictly as a secondary color on all of their uniform variations.

Green helmet? I was skeptical at first but upon further review of some concepts it actually looks really good with the home uniform. To be clear, I’m in no way suggesting this would ever replace Green Bay’s current look. But this is an annual alternate that I think would be really fun.

We shouldn’t be caught up on tradition. Other foundational teams like the Bears and Cowboys have been willing to embrace this new wave of NFL uniform adjustments. The Packers, while they are admittedly behind the 8-ball due to a lack of inspiration, should follow suit.
