Rajon Rondo had plenty of praise for his former teammate and last-minute Boston Celtics offseason acquisition Jrue Holiday.
“I like Jrue Holiday’s pickup,” Rondo said (h/t MassLive ). “He’s one of my favorite teammates that I’ve ever played with and I’m excited to see what he can bring tonight. Just his mindset, his mentality, his professional approach to the game and just what he brings. He does lot. of intangibles, he is a very unselfish guy and fun to be around. But he is a winner. He’s a competitor.”
It may come as a shock to some that the former two-time All-Star is now stepping into a role similar to Rondo’s when he led the Celtics’ Big Three with Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. and Ray Allen. With the Big Three coming together, they needed a guard who could defend and run the offense — and now Jrue Holiday finds himself in the same position as the new Big Three.
Jrue Holiday could form the core of a championship just like Rajon Rondo did with the 2007 Boston Celtics’ Big Three.
As in the 2007-2008 season, Boston Celtics fans and organization are waiting for an NBA championship. Holiday, like Rondo, is slated to lead three potential future Hall of Famers. With a proven track record of scoring and performing in the biggest moments, Jrue should be able to come in and fill that role just like Rondo once did.
The Celtics fan base should be excited for a player who can lead a team with high endorsements from one of their all-time favorite floor generals.
With Holiday having such an impact on the future of the Boston Celtics this season, the front office can feel comfortable knowing they found the right man for the job.
