In one offseason, the Green Bay Packers became one of the youngest teams in the NFL. The Packers ushered in a new era by trading up and choosing not to sign many veteran free agents. This means that whenever a young player is available who can benefit the team, it can be explored.

The Carolina Panthers are in for a rough season in 2023. The Panthers are undefeated in six games and could be traded as the trade deadline approaches. This became more evident when they let one of their youngest players trade. IMG 0117

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler:

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. was cleared to trade, sources told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Thursday.

The Panthers (0-6) have discussed the matter with agent Vince Taylor, and the team says Marshall is welcome back if the deal doesn’t go through, sources said.

He has 16 catches for 114 yards in five games this season, including two starts. After not playing in a Week 5 loss to the Detroit Lions, he missed three tackles in Carolina’s Week 6 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

Marshall, 23, has 104 catches for 742 yards and 1 touchdown since being selected by the Panthers in the second round of the 2021 draft.

Although Marshall has been healthy all season, he hasn’t had much of an impact on offense. He was active and dressed in the Panthers’ loss to the Lions in Week 5, but didn’t get a single snap on the field. Marshall said later that he did not understand why he was not included.

Marshall is under contract through 2024, with a base salary of $1.1 million this year and $1.4 million next year, so the Packers could pay him if they believe he can contribute more to a better offense.

Although his production declined in the NFL, Marshall had an incredible college career. During his time at LSU, Marshall started 20 games and played in 32 games. At LSU, he had 106 receptions for 1,594 yards and 23 touchdowns. Marshall ranks fourth in school history in career hitting (23)

A big receiver with great hands and good route running, he is one of six players in LSU history with more than 1,500 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns.

In addition, he caught at least one pass in 27 of 32 games during his college career, had four games of at least 100 yards and eight games with at least two touchdowns. If this young receiver needs ground, he could fit in with the Packers’ young core. Our partners:
