Reasons to be optimistic about Jordan Love and the Packers offense

by Parker Eaves 4 hours ago

The Green Bay Packers loss to the Raiders was disappointing for many fans and difficult to watch. The Packers go 2-3 entering the week and are on a two-game losing streak. Jordan Love, in particular, struggled against a Raiders defense that ranked in the bottom third of most defensive metrics in interceptions.

Love has struggled over the past two games, scoring just 30 points. The offense looked disorganized and couldn’t get into a rhythm all game and struggled to maintain momentum outside of the lone touchdown in the third quarter.

There are questions about whether or not Love can be the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. I think he still can be, and there’s reason to be optimistic about Love, even if the last two games don’t look good. In this article, I detail why you still have to believe in Love, what he needs to improve on, what the entire team needs to do better, and what Matt Lafleur needs to do game-wise to get him. in a better position to succeed.

Packers Deep Passing Game

According to FTN Fantasy, Love ranks first among starting receivers in the NFL in Average Depth of Target (ADOT) with 9.85 ADOT. ADOT is a metric used to locate a receiver. That means Jordan Love is attacking downfield more often than any quarterback. Love has yet to be accurate on deep throws this season. According to Zach Kruse of Packers Wire, he is 6-for-24 on throws over 20 yards with two interceptions.

Jordan Love is 6-of-24 this season and has two interceptions of 20+ yards.

Aaron Rodgers struggled to throw deep when he started last season, but then came alive when Christian Watson broke out and the running game picked up.

Packers receivers had a handful of drops on Love’s accurate deep throws. It’s a combination of both that leads to difficulty and a deep passing game. The deep passing game was very close to catching, and if the offense can correct a few things, Love’s numbers look much better.

Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love has had an up-and-down first five games, but there is optimism that he can be the long-term starter. Set love in motion

One area where Love excelled is his presence on the go, especially sudden. He looks more comfortable outside the pocket and can use his legs. Another way Love uses his legs is in run-pass option plays, or RPOs. He has struggled with decision-making in his RPO games, including his first interception last week against the Raiders. The problem may be that he doesn’t trust the run game because it was bad. It was clear on the first interception that he shouldn’t have pulled it and should have handed it off to the running back. It’s hard for a young quarterback to get anything going when there’s no running game and the offense becomes one-planned.

Offensive line battles

There has been a lot of shuffling along the offensive line, with David Bakhtiari playing just one game, Elgton Jenkins missing a few games and Josh Myers struggling at center. The offensive line was supposed to be the strength of the season, but struggled terribly. A good offensive line is the most important thing for a young quarterback, and when Love was able to throw, he made the right reads. The offensive line held up well in Week 1 against Chicago, and it was Love’s best game as a pro.

This season has been a year of evaluation for Jordan Love, with ups and downs. Love has already made a 17-point comeback, but has struggled the last two weeks. He led the league in passing yards and passing yards through the first two weeks of the season, but has five interceptions over the past two games. Jordan Love’s flashes have been very good and make him look like he could be a fifth-best quarterback in the league. Talent has everything; It is up to him and Matt LaFleur to create spaces for success.
