North Melbourne has said goodbye to the alternative businesses of Jack Ziebel and Jordan Russell following their acclaimed offices at Arden Street, while strengthening their development department.

Ziebell, who ended his 280-game Kangaroos career this year, has also become the Roos’ AFLW assistant coach. On Friday, North announced that Ziebell would step down from that role and move full-time to the Richmond assistant coaching position under new head coach Adem Yze.

North Melbourne football manager Todd Viney thanked the pair for their contribution to the Shinboners.

“Jordan has made an outstanding contribution to the AFL program over the past three years as our midfield coach and has built excellent relationships here,” Viney said in a statement released by the North Melbourne club on Friday.

“Jack has also been a great asset to our AFLW program in recent months with his wealth of playing and management experience, in addition to his long association with the club as a 280 game player and former captain.

“We wish both Jordan and Jack the best in their next chapter.”

Meanwhile, VFL playing assistant Jarrod Lienert has been promoted to head of indigenous player development, working under new development director Michael Barlow.

Viney said he was delighted to see Lienert, who ended his career with St Kilda and Port Adelaide last year, step into the new role.

“Jarrod is a qualified teacher and has already built great relationships with our players and staff as a player assistant coach in our VFL program,” Viney said.

“Jarrod has worked hard to earn this opportunity and we are delighted to have him in this critical role.”
