Panthers sign Dicaprio Bootle to 53-player roster

The Panthers signed Dicaprio Bootle to the 53-man roster

The Panthers signed cornerback Dicaprio Bootle to the 53-man roster on Tuesday, the team announced.

Bootle was absent from the training squad after the last three weeks of play.

The Panthers had only 52 active players pending the return of several injured players.

Carolina has depth issues at the position with Jaycee Horn still out with a hamstring injury and Donte Jackson inactive with a shoulder injury last week.

Bootle entered the league as an undrafted rookie out of Nebraska. He spent his first two seasons with the Chiefs and played seven games with Kansas City.

He played 56 snaps on special teams for the Panthers this season.

The team also announced it waived cornerback Sam Webb, who was signed to the Raiders’ practice squad earlier this year. Webb was active for the first time on Sunday.

The Panthers signed defensive back Takla Jayden Peevy to the practice squad to fill the Bootle vacancy. Peevy, of Texas AandM, was in camp with the Titans this summer after spending most of last year on their practice squad.
