Frank Reich reveals how involved Panthers owner David Tepper is
Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich spoke about the team’s signing on Tuesday.
Reich spoke at a press conference after the Panthers’ Week 5 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The 61-year-old coach has received several questions about his relationship with Panthers owner David Tepper. Reich opened up about Tepper’s commitment to teamwork
Some online observers were quick to speculate that perhaps Reich was hinting at a potential disagreement over the team’s quarterback selection during the 2023 NFL Draft. The Panthers went with Alabama running back Bryce Young despite rumors of Reich’s desire to draft Houston Texans rookie QB C. J. Stroud.
Reich’s comments, on the other hand, made no mention of the quarterback’s choice and explained his general interactions with Tepper, who he considered helpful.
Reich also announced days before the 2023 draft that he and the rest of the Panthers’ brain trust had already decided on a pick — which turned out to be Young.
The Panthers are undefeated through five weeks of the 2023 NFL season. With the team in contention, Carolina is already rumored to be looking for improvement in one particular area.
