Gray out: Leeds United XI predicted to face Hull

FLW predicts Leeds United’s starting line-up against Hull City at MKM on Wednesday night.

Leeds United take on Hull City in a fierce derby as Leeds look for their third league win. They have come out on top in the last few matches. Hull are unbeaten in five league games and will qualify for Leeds if they win. This match will provide a tough test for Leeds under new manager Daniel Farke. Farke may make some changes due to the backlog of matches, but key players such as goalkeeper Illan Meslier and defender Joe Rodon are likely to keep their places. Leeds United travel to East Yorkshire to face Hull City on Wednesday night with the Whites looking for a third league win of the campaign.

Being a derby, the clash could be heated and the two clubs have faced each other many times in recent years, with Leeds coming out on top of the Tigers in both of their last league meetings. the period of their promotion. They won the match in February 2020 4:0.

Everything is changing for them now, but after being relegated from the Premier League last season, they are expected to be among the favorites for promotion this season and are now under the guidance of two-time second-tier winner Daniel Farke at Norwich City. He has won two of his league games so far, both away from home, including a recent 3-0 win against Millwall on Sunday. However, the trip to East Yorkshire and Hull will provide a stern test for his side.

Hull are unbeaten in five league games after an opening-day win over Norwich City at Carrow Road and a 1-1 draw with Coventry City in their last game, but the Whites will go through if they lose on Wednesday night.

Farke suggested there would be changes due to the quick turnaround of this week’s fixture, which sees Leeds play three times in six days.

Phil Hay of The Football Club stated in his press conference, “I’m not a fan of too much spin because it can break the rhythm.”

He added that three games a week might be “a little bit, but not a lot.”

Here’s a look at the starting line-up Farke could field as he looks for his third league win as Leeds manager as they try to take three points from Hull at the MKM Stadium. GK: Illan Meslier

Ilan Meslier of Leeds United

Leeds are not short of goalscoring options, but the current number one is their most talented option in 23-year-old goalkeeper Illan Meslier. The Frenchman was superb against Millwall, particularly in the second half, and should rightfully keep his place ahead of Karl Darlow.

Meslier has been between the sticks in every league game so far and looks set to be Farke’s first choice. If he is fit, he is likely to keep his place for most of the rest of the season.

RB: Luke Ayling

Championship – Leeds United – West Bromwich Albion

With Djed Spence out for up to eight weeks, Ayling will have to play on the right wing more often, although he has been a weak link for the Whites this season. His performance against Millwall was much improved, perhaps in part because he was more reserved in attack.

The 32-year-old could be dropped for the likes of Jamie Shackleton later this week due to matches remaining and the need for a more dynamic attacking option against opposition on the right. However, Ayling should be the best option here, allowing Leeds’ left-back to get forward while the Leeds vice-captain stays further back at the back of the attack.

CB: Joe Rodon

Rodon established himself as a right-wing centre-back for Leeds. He has more quality on the ball than Charlie Cresswell and there is currently a developing partnership at the heart of Farke’s defence. He was excellent at Denis, handling many balloons very well.

The 25-year-old is expected to retain his place ahead of the former Millwall loanee. Rodon’s performances have been more than decent since his arrival at Elland Road, but the Millwall clash showed why he is now first choice and forms a pairing that Farke will not want to mess with.

CB: Pascal Struijk

Pascal Struijk

Despite club captain Liam Cooper recently returning to training, Struijk has been excellent this season and is perhaps the most obvious choice as the only naturally left-sided centre-back. He has been a perennial presence thus far and should continue to fit in nicely with Rodon. Cresswell and Ayling could also be used here, but Struijk has been one of Leeds’ best players so far this season and Farke has rightly used him heavily. Rodon and Struijk have a lot of promise in White’s pairing and should be given time to develop in their system, which requires moving the ball forward, something Struijk has plenty of, whether it’s passing or his ability to get into space.

LB: Sam Byram

Archie Gray

The 29-year-old is a player Farke knows well and can trust after their time together at Norwich. However, Byram is improving his form after several years of injury problems and is also set to return from the pre-breaks against Ipswich Town.

Another taller option who could claim is Shackleton, but he is less of a natural left back than Byram. Although he was brilliant against Millwall, he linked up well with Willy Gnonto and provided fantastic ball movement on the left wing for Leeds. His experience shows his quality and he should keep his place despite only recently returning to action.
