Hull City vs Leeds United: Latest Team update, TV/Live, Tickets, Kick-Offs

Leeds United take on Hull City in the Yorkshire derby on Wednesday night as the Whites look for their third league win of the campaign.

They share a fierce rivalry and have faced each other numerous times in recent years, with Leeds coming out on top in both of their last league meetings with the Tigers. In February 2020, that match was won 4:0.

The Whites are expected to be among the favorites for promotion this season after being relegated from the Premier League last season and are now coached by Norwich City’s two-time second-tier winner Daniel Farke. He has won two of his league games so far, both away from home, including a recent 3-0 win against Millwall on Sunday. However, the trip to East Yorkshire and Hull will provide a stern test for his side.

Hull are narrowly ahead of the Whites with three wins and two draws from six games and are unbeaten after an opening day loss to Norwich City at Carrow Road.

They drew 1-1 against Coventry City in their last game but defeat on Wednesday night will see them beaten by the visitors.

A win could boost Hull’s place in the play-offs, while Leeds have a chance to break into the top six for the first time this season. In three away games, Leeds have lost one and won two, but drawn all three at home, and Farke’s side are now better suited for clashes on their travels.

Early Hull City – Leeds United team news

Ozan Tufan

Hull City are hoping to welcome midfielder Ozan Tufan to the match at the MKM Stadium, which would be a significant addition to Liam Rosenior.

A thigh problem ruled out the unbeaten Turkey’s win at Leicester City before the international break and the 1-1 draw with Coventry City on Friday night, but Rosenior faces a crucial decision on his availability and Tufan is now back in training.

Greg Docherty and Dogukan Sinik are currently out for the Tigers, but James Furlong is expected to be included after missing Friday night after one training session last week.

Leeds, on the other hand, have struggled with problems all season, with Liam Cooper (leg) a long-term absentee after picking up an injury in the first game of the season against Cardiff City. The club captain, who suffered a torn ankle ligament against Cardiff, is said to be out for around eight to nine weeks, but Farke confirmed he returned to training early last weekend.

Junior Firpo is said to be back sometime after the international break, but he will be out. Patrick Bamford jumped out of his last friendly against Hearts and has missed every game so far and will do so against Hull.

Stuart Dallas, from last season, will also be out for a long time. According to Farke, however, it is “improving” all the time. The German also confirmed that Sam Byram and Dan James will return to action against Millwall, with both playing their part.

Djed Spence is out with a knee problem that has persisted in training recently, keeping him out for up to eight weeks, with Byram, Luke Ayling and Jamie Shackleton the better backs.
