2 teens killed, 1 injured in crash along I-24 in Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two teenagers are dead and another is injured after a crash involving one vehicle along Interstate 24 in Clarksville early Sunday morning.

The Clarksville Police Department reported the incident happened just after 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15 in the eastbound lanes of I-24 near mile marker 3.

According to Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), a 2017 Buick Lacrosse was heading eastbound on I-24 when it ran off the right side of the road and overturned.

Video from the scene shows the vehicle flipped on its roof in a nearby woodline.

THP said the driver and a passenger — identified as Kevion Deshun Lane and Katrell Zion Godfrey, respectively — were both fatally injured in the crash. Neither of these 18-year-old Tennesseans were wearing their seatbelts at the time.

Officials said another passenger, a 16-year-old Tennessee boy, was only injured in the crash, but there is no word on the nature of those injuries. This teen was also not wearing a seatbelt.

This is a developing story. WKRN News 2 will continue to update this article as new information becomes available.
