1 dead, 1 airlifted after dirt bikes crash head-on in Eden
One person is dead and another person was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after two dirt bikes crashed head-on in Eden on Saturday, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
At around 5:18 p.m. on Saturday, state troopers came to the area of Round House Road near Friendly Road after getting a report of a crash.
Investigators say that Samuel Joseph Farthing, 42, of Eden, was riding a 2002 Yamaha dirt bike east on Round House Road before crossing the center line and colliding head-on with someone riding a 2002 Honda dirt bike west on Round House Road.
Farthing died at the scene and the other dirt bike rider was airlifted to the hospital from the scene with serious and life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
